Bill and Tom Kaulitz: "We'll let ourselves be surprised in Chile"
No doubt that Tokio Hotel is one of the most awaited for visits of the year, and there are thousands of fans that can't take the excitement anymore. Knowing this, we took the phone and spoke to the hottest twins in music. Here it is, our exclusive interview with Bill and Tom Kaulitz.

The constant traveling has been the tonic (strength) for the guys of Tokio Hotel for a few years now. And it is precisely the fact of meeting so many people and the diverse places, something that never ceases to excite Bill, Tom, Georg, and Gustav, that has taken their music this year from their native Germany, stopping in Russia, and their successful stop in Asia, where the echoes of their most recent album, Humanoid City, still resonates.

Now, and for the joy of thousands of fans, the German band arrives for the first time in Santiago, a fact that has Bill and Tom tremendously excited, who while on their tour break (since they are adjusting the details of their arrival to South America) from Hamburg took the time to speak with us, giving us a heads up on how their first performance in Santiago will be, what they expect from their Chilean fans, and how they believe this, their first visit to South America will be. Girls... we present, the Kaulitz twins.

How do you feel at just a few days from presenting your show and the band for the first time in South America?
Tom: The truth is we are so happy, because it is the first time that we go there, and if we didn't do so before, is because it is really difficult to manage a show of this kind and travel so far with the tour that we were doing. But the truth is that we feel really happy of meeting our fans "from down there" (laughs) very soon.

The show you will present in Santiago will be similar to what the fans have seen in Europe?
Bill: Since we will be presenting the new album, the performance will be the same that has been seen on the European Humanoid City Tour. The thing is we can't take absolutely everything from the production with us to Chile, but we will take our outfits, and all that, so in that sense it will be the same. You can be sure we are going with all we have and more, because we are anxious to go and play in Chile.

What are your thoughts on how in far away countries such as Chile, fans adore and prefer German versions of your songs over English?
Tom: Wow! (laughter)... I am very surprised, because I really had no idea! But, are you serious? Wow! (pause and chatter among the Kaulitz). And good thing you tell me! because we are just now preparing the list of songs that we are going to perform; and it is awesome to know that the fans love our mother language, with which we began to make ourselves known. And you know what, I am really pleased that it is this way, because besides German and English we don't speak anything else, and it is admirable that our fans in Chile feel interested in listening to our songs in German and that they take the time to translate them. I am excited!

I can tell you more Tom, in Chile the fans are dedicated, because they adore the German versions and they and demand them on the albums...
Tom: They are really incredible, I cannot believe it! Never in my life would I have imagined it, it's incredible...it's perfect!

And since we are on the subject of our country, do you know anything about Chile?
Bill: The truth is we are going to let ourselves be surprised, because we don't know much about the country, nor do we know much about the music, but we are always in contact with our fan clubs and we know the tremendous support that they give us from Chile. We have read it all, because they tell us a lot and we have also seen the videos that our fans in Chile upload on the Internet (and they are truly creative). But anyway, aside from that, we are going to let them surprise us; I think that is the most beautiful thing about traveling, because you arrive to a city that you don't know, and you let yourself be surprised by all those new impressions.

We know the "unconditional love" that you awaken in your fans. Are you prepared for the harassment (always with love, it's clear) from so many girls that awaits you here?
Tom: The truth is that in more than one occasion we have had one bad experience with some fan, because sometimes someone will lose control and we don't know what to do; even if it happens a thousand times, we still gets nervous. But we are more than wishful to be there soon, with our fans, that are always with the best disposition and with all their love supporting us from the first row in our concerts.

With all the success, tours, trips, performances, etc... Have you ever stopped to think if, at some time you wished to take your voice and songs to countries as far as ours?
Bill: It is something incredible. So tremendous! I have yet to finish assimilating and comprehending it all, and it makes me glad that it is like this. It is something that none of us ever imagined, since we never thought that we would have so much success outside of our own country, and especially in other continents. We still cannot believe that we travel so much, that we meet so many people, and that we can sing to fans in so many places. It is something that each time I see it and I experience it, it moves me. Truthfully, I cannot help it because it is a gift and I am very thankful for having received it.

As good musicians, I would love to check out your personal iPod, so that you recommend some music that you like to the readers of Tú.
Bill: Within the band, our music taste is very diverse, since we all like different things. But what we all like and is absolutely recommended is Aerosmith. To me, personally, what I like the most is music from the 80's. I love Depeche Mode, I love the Stereophonics... I think that bands of that style are the best and without a doubt I recommend them to our fans.

Let me tell you, you have great taste...
Bill: How sweet, thank you so much.
Tom: Hahaha...he's all red! Hahaha

Tom: What we want to say a heartfelt thank you to all and to the fans for their support, and that we are very happy to take our music there. And it has been so long since we wanted to do it, and finally we have done it! So we are happy to finally be able to be over there, and we give you infinite thanks for all the support that you have always given us, thank you for all the good things that we have received from them, and for the stupendous show that I know we will have in Santiago. En apprenant celà, nous avons pris le téléphone et avons parlé aux jumeaux les plus torrides de la musique. Voici notre interview exclusive avec Bill et Tom Kaulitz.
Voyager souvent a été la tonique (la force) pour les gars de Tokio Hotel depuis quelques années maintenant. Et c’est précisément le fait de rencontrer tant de gens et la diversité des lieux, quelque chose qui ne cesse d’exciter Bill, Tom, Georg et Gustav, qui a pris leur musique cette année de leur Allemagne natale, le passage en Russie, et leur passage rempli de succès en Asie, où les échos de leur plus récent album, Humanoid City, résonne encore. Maintenant, et pour la joie de milliers de fans, le groupe allemand arrive pour la première fois à Santiago, un fait qui a très excité Bill et Tom, qui, pendant leur pause (comme ils règlent les détails de leur arrivée en Amérique du sud) depuis Hambourg ils ont pris le temps de parler avec nous, nous donnant un apperçu sur la façon dont leur première représentation à Santiago se déroulera,ce qu’ils atendent des fans chiliens, et comment ils pensent que leur première visite en Amérique du sud sera. • Comment vous sentez-vous à quelques jours seulement de présenter votre spectacle et le groupe pour la première fois en Amérique du sud?
Tom: La vérité c’est qu’on est très heureux, parce que c’est la première fois qu’on y va, et si nous ne l’avons pas fait avant, c’est parce qu’il est difficile de gèrer un spectacle de ce genre et voyager si loin avec notre tournée. Mais il est vrai qu’on est très heureux de rencontrer nos fans “qui viennent du bas” (rires) très bientôt.

• Le spectacle que vous présenterez sera-t-il similaire à celui que vous donnez aux fans en Europe?
Bill: Comme on présentera le nouvel album, la performance sera la même qui a été vue sur le Humanoid City Tour européen. En fait, nous ne pouvons pas tout prendre de la production avec nous au Chili, mais nous auront nos tenues, et tout ça, donc dans ce sens, ce sera la même chose. Rassurez-vous, nous irons avec tout ce que nous avons et plus encore, parce que nous sommes excités de venir jouer au Chili.

• Que pensez vous du fait que dans un pays aussi lointain que le Chili, les fans adorent et préfèrent les versions en allemand plutôt qu’en anglais?
Tom: Wow! (rires)… Je suis très surpris, parce que je n’en avais aucune idée! Mais, êtes vous sérieux? Wow! (pause et discution entre les Kaulitz). C’est une bonne chose que vous me le dites! parce qu’on est entrain de préparer la liste des chansons que nous allons jouer; et c’est génial de savoir que les fans aiment notre langue maternelle, avec laquelle on a travaillé pour être connus. Et vous savez quoi, je suis très content que ce soit comme ça, parce qu’à part l’allemand et l’anglais, nous ne parlons aucune autre langue, et c’est admirable que nos fans au Chili s’interessent à écouter nos chansons en allemand et qu’ils prennent le temps de les traduire. Je suis excité!

• Je peux vous en dire plus, Tom. Au Chili, les fans sont très dévoués, parce qu’ils adorent les versions allemandes et les demandent sur l’album…
Tom: Ils sont vraiment incroyables, je n’y crois pas! Je ne l’aurais pas imaginé une seule seconde, c’est incroyable…C’est parfait!

• Et en parlant de notre pays, qu’est ce que vous savez du Chili?
Bill: En vérité, nous allons nous laisser surprendre, parce que nous ne savons pas grand chose de ce pays, ni de sa musique, mais nous restons toujours en contact avec nos fanclubs et nous savons que nous avons tout le soutien qu’il faut au Chili. Nous avons tous lu, parce qu’ils nous en disent beaucoup, et nous avons également vu les vidéos que nos fans chiliens mettent sur internet(et ils sont vraiment créatifs). Mais de toute façon, à part ça, nous allons les laisser nous surprendre. Je pense que c’est ce qu’il y a de plus beau dans les voyages, parce que vous arrivez dans une ville que vous ne connaissez pas, et vous vous laissez surprendre par toutes ces nouvelles impressions.

• Nous savons que vous éveillez en vos fan “un amour inconditionnel” . Êtes vous préparés pour le harcèlement(toujours avec amour, c’est clair) de tant de jeunes filles qui vous attendent ici?
Tom: Il est vrai qu’on a eu de mauvaises expériences à plusieurs reprises avec des fans, parce que des fois quelqu’un perd les pédales et nous ne savons pas quoi faire. Même quand si ça arrive des milliers de fois, on est toujours nerveux. Mais nous souhaitons plus que tout de bientôt y être, avec nos fans, qui sont toujours dans les meilleurs conditions et avec tout leur amour nous soutenant depuis les premiers rangs dans les concerts.

• Avec tout ce succès, les tournées, les voyages, les spectacles, etc…Avez vous jamais pensé qu’un jour vous emmeneriez votre voix et vos chansons dans un pays aussi éloigné que le notre?
Bill: C’est incroyable. Tellement It is something incredible. Tellement excitant! Je n’ai même pas entièrement tout assimilé et réalisé, et ça me rend heureux que ce soit comme ça. C’est quelque chose qu’aucun de nous n’a imaginé, comme nous n’avons jamais pensé que nous aurions autant de succès en dehors de notre propre pays, et surtout dans les autres continents. Nous n’arrivons toujours pas à croire que nous rencontrons tant de gens, et que nous pouvons chanter pour les fans dans autant d’endroits. C’est quelque chose qui me touche, à chaque fois que je le vois et le vis. Franchement, je ne peux pas m’en empêcher parce que c’est un cadeau que je suis très reconnaissant de recevoir.

• Comme vous êtes de bons musiciens, j’aimerais voir vos iPods personnels, comme ça vous pourriez recommander la musique que vous aimez aux lecteurs de Tú.
Bill: Au sein du groupe, nous goûts en music sont très diversifiés, comme nous aimons tous des choses différentes. Mais ce que nous aimons en commun et qu’on recommande vivement c’est Aerosmith. Pour moi, personellement, j’ai de grande préférences pour la musique des années 80. J’aime beaucoup depeche mode, j’aime the Stereophonics… Je pense que les groupes de ce style sont les meilleurs et je les recommande aux fans sans hésiter.

• Laissez moi vous dire, vous avez très bon goût…
Bill: Comme c’est gentil, merci beaucoup.
Tom: Hahaha…il est tout rouge! Hahaha

• Enfin, j’aimerais laisser la ligne ouverte, pour que vous puissiez laisser un message aux fans, qui vous attendent avec impatience au Chili.
Tom: Nous remercions vivement tus les fans pour leur soutien, et nous sommes très heureux de jouer notre musique là bas. Et ça faisait tellement longtemps qu’on voulait le faire! et nous l’avons finallement fait! Alors nous sommes enfin heureux de pouvoir venir là-bas. Nous vous remercions infiniment pour tout le soutien que vous nous avez toujours donné, merci pour toutes les bonnes choses que nous avons reçus, et pour le spectacle qui je sais sera géant à Santiago.
